E. Mayer
The work of Jeremy Mayer has, over the past
20 years, unfolded from a fascination with the
relationship between the micro and the macro;
this inspiration is manifest in his work viscerally,
philosophically, physiologically, and sociologically.
Having no formal training, Mr. Mayer has utilized
skills learned in such varied fields as package
design, stained glass restoration, and working
with established sculptors on public art. He has
created an iconoclastic body of work that ranges
from sculpture using resin and disassembled typewriters
to hyper-realistic drawings borne of ruminations
about the future of consciousness in relation
to technology.
Mr. Mayer stresses the importance of quality
of materials used and attention to detail that
resonates with each work. His larger sculptures
can take up to 1,200 hours to complete, and the
drawings (often done with use of CAD and 3D modeling
programs to assist in constructing each figure
before hand-rendering) can take up to 200 hours.
Mr. Mayer lives and works in Tahoe City, CA.
